Each month, the Outreach Committee of Christ the King selects a recipient for our “Open Offering.” These gifts are directed to a wide variety of community organization, including The Action Center, the Arvada Food Bank, the Colorado Haiti Project, the Five Talents program, Heifer International, and the Family Tree Shelter, as well as supporting some of our own outreach projects, such as the Neighborhood Dinner and the annual “Turkey Shoot.”
Since 2012, volunteers have provided a free home-cooked meal to our neighborhood community once a month on the fourth Wednesdays. We are so pleased that other Arvada churches have joined our efforts to reach our and serve our neighbors. Other Arvada churches offer monthly Wednesday dinners.
Located on the southeast corner of our property, there is garden space for folks who long to grow a vegetable garden but lack their own yard space. Cost for the space this summer is $15.00.
Parishioners volunteer to prepare and serve a home-cooked meal to the hungry poor at the Episcopal Church of St. Peter and St. Mary in Denver. This church hosts a meal every Tuesday night, and Christ the King’s turn is the second Tuesday of every month. Help us feed the homeless by contacting Mark Molello. Visit St. Clare’s Ministry at their website.
A collaboration of Arvada-area churches, Inter-Church ARMS is a 35-year-old charitable organization that provides financial aid to pay grocery, rent, utility, and medical bills to people in our community who are in need. Tutoring and letter writing to 2nd graders are other volunteer opportunities. For more information call 303-456-4892.
