October 5, 2022: Austin installed as Rector

July 3, 2022: Austin’s first Sunday at Christ the King.

April 29, 2022: The Vestry of Christ the King Arvada is very excited to announce that our new Rector is Reverend Dr. Austin Leininger. His first day will be Monday, June 27, 2022 and his first Sunday will be July 3.

The Rev. Dr. Austin Leininger, who prefers to simply be called “Austin,” has been a priest in the Episcopal Church for sixteen years and earned a PhD in Ethics and Social Theory from the Graduate Theological Union in 2015. In addition to parish ministry, Austin teaches (Iliff School of Theology at the University of Denver, and CDSP in Berkeley, CA), writes, and is an advocate for neurodiversity and the LGBTQIA+ community. Austin is most excited to get to know the amazing family of Christ the King, to get to hear their stories, and to become a part of their wonderful community as Austin and family settle in and seek home amongst them.


February 2022: Interviews began

October 26, 2021: Parish Profile published by the Diocese and is “live” for potential candidates to view online and apply for the position.

May 26 to June 9, 2021: Members asked to complete a survey. Information will be used to create our Parish Profile.

March 22, 2021: Search Committee for a new rector was appointed and announced.

February 28, 2021: Vestry began accepting applications from those interested in serving on the Search Committee for a new rector at Christ the King.

February 16, 2021: Vestry votes to begin the search process for a Rector.

November 9, 2020: Interim Rector, Rev. Margaret Peel-Shakespeare begins serving at CTK.

October 31, 2020: Rector, Rev. Rebecca Brown retires after nine years of ministry at CTK.
